Job Title: Multi-Agency Child Protection Team Independent Domestic Violence Adviser - MACPT IDVA

Job Location: Co-located in either Gloucester, Tewkesbury or Stroud. There will be a requirement to work across Gloucestershire when demand requires.

Salary: £30,553 plus £750 Car allowance PA

Contract type: Fixed Term until 30/06/2027 subject to extension

Are you an experienced Domestic Abuse professional looking for an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to adults and children affected by domestic abuse?

As a result of service expansion, we are recruiting several MACPT IDVA’s to join the GDASS team in Gloucestershire. Working as part of a multi-agency team, you will provide specialist domestic abuse advice, support and safety planning to families who are also working with Children’s Services.

This is a varied and rewarding role where your expertise will help keep people safe, strengthen multi-agency working and ensure that the needs of children living with domestic abuse are recognised and responded to.

About the role

As a MACPT IDVA, you will:

Provide practical, emotional, housing-related and specialist domestic abuse support to people experiencing or at risk of domestic abuse.

Work with families across all levels of risk, completing and reviewing risk assessments and developing appropriate safety plans.

Manage a caseload and support clients to identify and achieve their own goals, choices and outcomes.

Work closely with social workers, family support workers and other professionals to provide a coordinated, trauma-informed response.

Ensure that the needs and experiences of children affected by domestic abuse are identified and appropriate support is put in place.

Attend and contribute to MACPT meetings, Child Protection Conferences, Child in Need meetings, Strategy Meetings, MARAC’s and other multi-agency forums as the domestic abuse specialist.

Provide specialist advice, consultation, training and guidance to Children’s Social Care and other professionals.

Liaise with statutory and voluntary agencies including health, probation, housing providers, legal services and other support organisations.

This role involves regular lone working and visits to clients and remote locations. You will therefore need to be able to meet the requirements of our lone-working procedures and have access to your own transport to travel between locations.

You will also be required to work in accordance with organisational policies covering safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality, information security and data protection.

Maintain accurate, confidential records and ensure information is managed in line with data protection and organisational requirements.

About you

You will have demonstrable experience of working with vulnerable people and experience of assessing and managing risk. Ideally, you will have a minimum of three years' relevant experience and an IDVA qualification or be willing and able to gain the qualification/equivalent level of skills and experience.

Strong knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on adults and children.

Experience of risk assessment and safety planning.

Experience of working with vulnerable children and/or families.

Experience of working alongside Social Services or other statutory agencies.

Knowledge of housing law, welfare benefits and relevant legislation.

An understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The ability to build effective relationships with clients and professionals across multiple agencies.

Strong organisation, administration and time-management skills.

A flexible, proactive and solution-focused approach.

The ability to remain calm, sensitive and professional when working with stressful or complex situations.
